Take the most of your car with more octane power!
How does the octane number affect my car?
The higher the octane number (usually rated with RON points), the more compression the fuel can withstand before detonating (igniting).
For a better explanation, we have this diagram:
The arrow indicates the precise moment the ignition occurs, after the piston has let the petrol in.
With a higher octane number the piston can travel a longer path, allowing more power to be extracted from the piston cycle. This helps the combustion stability and it often aids in preventing engine knocking too.
If it is possible to extract more power from your car, Octane Boost will do so, especially if the vehicle has a turbo.
If that power is deployed, then it will also help with the efficiency and fuel consumption of your vehicle.
What is the maximum octane number?
Although you may think of RON points as a percentage of power, 100 RON petrol wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
Depending on your country, you can find commercial petrol brands which usually reach 100 or 103.
By using petrol containing ethanol or ether, the RON value can exceed 100.
Is Octane Boost safe and legal?
Some other octane boosting additives are for circuit and racing use only, while Syntix Octane Boost can be used for both racing and everyday use. This allows you to get that bit of extra power wherever you go.
